Pay no sales tax on qualifying clothing and footwear priced at $100 or less and on the first $40 of a backpack.  

Note:

• The $100 limit for clothing and footwear during the August tax-free week is applied per item, not per transaction.
• Accessories and special-use or protective gear (like athletic shoes or helmets) are generally not included in the August tax-free week exemption.
• Online purchases may qualify for tax exemption during the August tax-free week if the retailer collects Maryland sales tax and the purchase is completed during the specified dates.
